Music Maestro

Since I'm at work Monday-Thursday and Zaynah's now at school full time, like most people we can only do things together on the weekends. So off we popped to Harborne primary school for The string club discovery day.  Now my parenting style is to let Zaynah try whatever takes her fancy (finances permitted) and see what sticks.  The String Club discovery day allowed Zaynah to try a string instrument and If she liked it we could sign up for a term. The first one we went to was back in 2016 where she tried the Ukulele neither of us were convinced enough to sign up so that was the end of that.

Then they asked if we would like to try another instrument, first Zaynah said no but after I showed her some violinist on YouTube she got really excited to give it a go. Off we went again in and this time it stuck. I'm not sure if it was the instrument or the teacher with the pink hair that captured her interest but we signed up for a term which started in May.  Even though Mercy with the pink hair isn't her teacher she seems to really enjoy it. I hired a violin from String Club for at the first few terms to make sure it was a keeper because I didn't want to shell out for a violin only to have it gathering dust in the living room.

After about 18 months in 2018 Zaynah took her first violin exam and passed her ABRSM Copper Music Medal.
