The great Highgate bake off!!!
We have done lots of things since my last post but finding the time to update is proving difficult.
On Saturdays we go to the library for story time, we attended a dance class "Dizzy Dancers" at Calthorpe Centre but they didn't want our business!! After the class the teacher barley acknowledge our departure, failed to ask how Zaynah found the class (she liked the tap section) and she didn't feel like telling me the cost of the classes but I'm guessing she wasn't expecting us to return. The disappointing thing is we're literally 5 mins away from Calthorpe so it was ideal.
Anyhow this Saturday we decided not to do story time and stay at home and try our hand at baking.
I found a first baking book that seemed like it was for children but boy was I mistaken.
Page 1. Eccles cakes followed by choux pastry!!! Absolutely not lol I was thinking more along the lines of Rice Krispies treats or flapjacks. So scrap that idea and decided to go with an old favourite chocolate concrete. It's quick, easy and delish.
Ingredients
200g plain flour
200g sugar (I actually only use 190g)
100g margarine
50g cocoa powder NOT drinking chocolate
I melt the marg in the microwave. Add all the ingredients into a bowl and mix until crumbly.
Grease a baking tin or silicon mould
Pour mixture into mould and pat down so it compacts
Bake in pre heated oven for 20 mins at gas mark 4. When finished sprinkle with sugar and enjoy.
It was delicious
